Andrea Tweedale was born in Bedfordshire and read Music at the University of Sheffield before attending the RNCM for postgraduate studies. Whilst at the RNCM, Andrea gained a Masters of Music and a Postgraduate Diploma in solo performance, both with Distinction studying under Thomas Schulze and Sarah Rhodes. Andrea’s studies were generously supported by an Independent Opera Scholarship and the Busenhart Morgan Evans award from the Worshipful Company of Musicians. Highlights whilst studying include Barber’s Knoxville: Summer of 1915, conducted by Paul Mann; Anya/Anya 17 with the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic 10/10 ensemble; Lady Billows/Albert Herring; and Soprano soloist in the Dvorak Te Deum with the RNCM Symphony Choir and Orchestra. After graduating, Andrea was the RNCM recipient of a fellowship from Independent Opera at Saddler’s Wells 2013/2014.

Andrea is now based in London, and is studying with Yvonne Kenny. Recent performances include Mimi/La Bohème (Opera on Location); Lady Saphir/Patience (Charles Court Opera); Soloist in Merry Opera’s acclaimed staged Messiah; Soprano soloist in Elgar’s Spirit of England with Bolton Festival Chorus; and Marenka/The Bartered Bride (cover, Kentish Opera). Andrea’s opera roles include Anya/Anya 17 (Timişoara, Romania); Musetta/La Bohème (Heritage Opera); Adina/L’Elisir d’Amore (Mananan Opera Festival); Helena/A Midsummer Night’s Dream (Opera on Location); Miss Jessel/Turn of the Screw, Fiordiligi/Così fan tutte (Steel Opera); Donna Anna/Don Giovanni (Pint-sized Opera); and Euridice/Orfeo ed Euridice (Opera Seria).
Andrea is also a regular singer of Oratorio, with works including: Britten’s War Requiem; Mozart’s C minor Mass, Coronation Mass and Requiem; Haydn’s The Seasons; Handel’s Messiah. Other notable engagements include Strauss’ Vier Letzte Lieder (Westmoreland Orchestra); Chansonnier/Frankenstein (Liverpool Philharmonic 10/10 ensemble); Vaughn Williams’ Serenade to Music at the Bridgewater Hall; a Puccini recital at Cadogan Hall as part of the Divas and Scholars series; and soloist in The Classical Proms in the Concertgebouw in Holland.
